Structural Engineering Firm Sold to Local Ownership Group

Varcon Inc. Engineering Consultants, a leader in project management services related to communications, has been sold. Tom Vardy, President and CEO, announced that the 32-year-old business has been sold to Sean Hayman, Trevor Bolt, and Dave Lewis, in a deal brokered by Confederation M&A, Atlantic Canada’s leading mergers & acquisitions firm.

Varcon was founded by Tom Vardy in 1987 to service the growing needs of the communication and broadcast industries. It has since grown from a basement office in Newfoundland to a professional services firm with more than 60 employees with six offices across Canada. Varcon has completed work for every major communication and broadcast tower owner in Canada and several major tower owners in the United States.

“I’m proud of the dedicated team at Varcon and the great achievements we’ve achieved over the past three decades while growing our firm” says Vardy. “I look forward to seeing the continued growth and success of Varcon under new ownership.”

New owners Hayman and Bolt, previous senior executives with Varcon, along with Lewis who brings marketing experience from previous positions with Radian6 and Salesforce, are prepared to take on the role of owners. “We’re extremely pleased to be obtaining ownership of this important business in the communications and broadcast sector” they said in a joint statement. “Varcon has excelled in specialty areas by providing best-in-class service for decades, and we intend to maintain as we continue to grow forward and explore new opportunities” they added.
