Group of Restaurants Sold to Kent MacPhee and Kent Scales
Charlottetown, PE: Two of Charlottetown’s reputable and long-serving establishments, Claddagh Oyster House and Olde Dublin Pub have been sold to new owners. Kim and Liam Dolan, owners of both establishments have entered into a purchase and sale agreement with Kent MacPhee and Kent Scales, two well-known Island businessmen.
Claddagh Oyster House and Olde Dublin Pub have been owned and operated by Kim and Liam Dolan for 35 years. Both the restaurant and the pub have won several awards and accolades over these years for providing quality food and beverage and exceptional customer service.
“We are proud and humbled to have owned and operated these businesses for as long as we have here in PEI. Kim and I have dedicated our whole lives to ensuring we operated a viable business that provided great product and service, something that wasn’t always easy but it certainly was always worth it,” says Liam Dolan. “Over the years we have been blessed with having phenomenal staff. Without them we certainly would not be in the position we are in today. It has always been a family-focused restaurant and Marc (Dolan) has been instrumental in maintaining our vision. From working long hours to late nights and representing me and the family in this building, Marc has definitely made us proud. Our customers have also been extremely loyal to us, which has helped with our success. This was not an easy decision but when we engaged with Confederation M&A to help us find new buyers, it confirmed we were making the right decision. Having Kent and Kent take over provides great assurance and certainty that the restaurant and pub are in great hands. We will miss this excitement but are ready to move on and spend more time with family.”
Kent MacPhee is an owner and former CEO of Advantage Communications. MacPhee grew up working at his parent’s restaurant, the Bonnie Brae in Cornwall. Kent Scales is the CEO of the Scales Group of Companies and operates a wide-ranging group of PEI businesses including ServiceMaster, Kensington Agricultural Services Ltd., Landfest Inc., and Robin’s Donuts.
“Together, Kent and I share many common values and we are excited to partner on this opportunity,” says Kent MacPhee. “The Dolans’ have set the bar high. When it comes to service and quality, Kim and Liam have earned great respect, not just locally but internationally for their leadership and dedication in the hospitality and tourism industry. We are very much looking forward to building on their legacy and working with the great staff that are in place to continue on this tradition.”
The MacPhee and Scales ownership of Claddagh Oyster House and Olde Dublin Pub was effective June 1, 2018.
