Charlottetown, PE: Howard Coles, FRAIC, MAAPEI, P.Eng. and Douglas Coles, FEC, P.Eng., P.E. are pleased to announce Coles Associates Ltd. (“Coles Associates”) has added two new partners, Sean Wheeler, FEC, MBA, P.Eng. and Elliott Coles, P.Eng., two of Coles Associates’ current senior management. The transaction is effective January 9, 2018.

Coles Associates was founded in 1959 and has grown into a multi-disciplinary professional firm delivering prime consulting, architectural and engineering services including architecture and civil, municipal, structural, mechanical, process, electrical, and transportation engineering as well as project management and construction management. Coles Associates have developed a reputable business across Canada and the world, including the United States, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Poland, China, India, South Africa and the Caribbean.

“After considerable thought and discussion with our families, Douglas and I decided the time was right to share ownership with the next generation of leaders,” says Howard Coles, FRAIC, MAAPEI, P.Eng. “We worked closely with Confederation M&A to consider the future of our organization and it didn’t take long to realize the best fit was with some of the people who already know our business and have contributed to our success. We are very proud of the work our company and our staff have delivered over five decades and the relationships we’ve built across the globe but we see this transition as a tremendous opportunity for further growth of our organization and rejuvenation for our team and the services we offer.”

The new partners of Coles Associates have an impressive background that bodes well with the business principles and fundamentals that have made Coles Associates the success that it is today. Sean Wheeler, FEC, MBA, P.Eng. is a Mechanical and Process Engineer and has been a key part of the management team for 12 years. Elliott Coles, P.Eng. is an Electrical Engineer and is the third-generation within the Coles family to take a leadership role.

“This is an exciting time for us to join the partnership. There is quite a legacy within the Coles family of delivering over five decades of history and service. I am confident we have the right team and resources in place to continue to be successful well into the future,” says Sean Wheeler.

The transaction was facilitated through Confederation M&A, a leading Atlantic Canadian-based mergers and acquisitions firm.
